Around Africa

Due to the piracy threads at the Golf of Aden the Lo Entropy yacht will be sailing around Africa instead of using the Suez Canal on her trip from Wales UK to East Africa.

The Swahili coast route will be put on hold and be replaced by a journey to Madagascar and back crossing The Comoros en Nosy Be.

"In the 20th century, except for an occasional historical incident, they virtually disappeared from the world's awareness. They became "Forgotten Islands."

Martin Ottenheimer

15 December Geoff Boerne and his crew will sail to Brazil and will arrive february '09 in Cape Town.

Lo Entropy Yacht on her way to East Africa

On the 15th of December 2008, experienced skipper Geoffrey Boerne will set sail from Wales (Great Britain) for his journey towards East Africa. He will pass through the infamous Suez Canal and arrive at the beginning of February.

In May, the first passengers will board Lo Entropy yacht in Mozambique and set sail for the Monsoon Safari!

Monsoon Safaris starts in May '09

Launching in May 2009, Monsoon Safaris offers you a unique opportunity to explore the East African coast. On our 75 foot ketch, Lo Entropy, capturing the spirit of the traditional seafaring craft, our experienced crew will take you to some truly remote and pristine places, and introduce you to the key coastal locations that were part of a network of trading centres dating back over the last millennium.

Visiting the mystical locations of Ilha de Mozambique, Zanzibar, Kilwa and Lamu, the various safari options will take you along the routes still used by the dhows as they transport their goods up and down the coast, sailing with the monsoon winds.

Our boat caters for up to 12 people in ensuite double cabins, fully equipped to high standards of comfort and safety, fully certified to category 2 UK Marine Coastguard Authority standard (we advise you check these certification documents before booking with us or our competitors as this determines whether you are insured or not whilst sailing). Cuisine will have a local flavour and there will be daily opportunities for fishing, snorkelling and kayaking. Overnight stays at selected guest houses will form part of the trip and allow for visits to the many cultural and archaeological attractions along the route.

Monsoon Safaris is committed to sustainable and ecologically-aware tourism. Our objective is to minimise the environmental footprint that we leave as a result of our activities; and to maximise the benefits for the local communities in which we operate.
